THE VICTIM STARTED CRYING IN THE CLASS. HER FRIENDS INFORMED THEIR TEACHER, WHO THEN ASKED THE VICTIM WHAT WAS WRONG

ROHTAK : The Rewari police arrested a man for allegedly raping his 11-year-old step-daughter for two months. The accused was produced in court on Thursday that sent him to judicial remand, the police said.

The police said the incident had come to light when the victim, a student of a government school near her village, started crying in the classroom. Her friends informed their class teacher, who then asked the victim what was wrong.

The police said the girl first refused to tell anything, but after some counselling, narrated the ordeal to her teacher. She told the teacher that her step-father had been sexually assaulting her every time her mother went out of the house for some work for the past two months. She said he would threaten her of dire consequences if she informed anyone about it.

Shocked at the girl’s statement, the teacher called up her mother and asked her to come to school. The teacher then informed the mother in the school.

The police said the upset mother first called her husband and confronted him, and later called up the police and reported the matter. A case against the step-father of the girl was registered at women police station under the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. He was arrested and jailed, the police said.

The police said the victim’s mother and step-father had a love marriage a few years ago. The mother had separated from her first husband and had four children with him, including the victim. The accused worked as a transporter.
