Frame-up allegations by cop couple: HC summons Hry DGP

-

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab and Haryana high court has summoned Haryana director general of police (DGP), BS Sandhu, for December 13 on a plea by two cops, a couple, who had alleged frame up at the hands of senior police officers of the state.

The plea is pending since July before the court and in September, it had asked the petitioner cops to approach the DGP with their plea for granting protection to them. However, the DGP failed to act on the representation.

The allegations in the petition are against five senior IPS officers and one BJP MLA of frame up. The petitioners in this case are a couple from Panipat. While husband Ashish is a head constable, wife Munesh Kumari is a subinspector. In the petition filed in July, they had sought CBI probe and registration of an FIR into the alleged harassment meted out to them and in the meantime grant protection since high profile persons are involved in the case. The two FIRS were registered in Panipat against the couple in 2014 for illegal confinement, forgery and under Arms Act. They had alleged that they have been falsely implicated in criminal cases and departmental enquiries, because wife of the petitioner had conducted a raid on the house of a BJP MLA in 2014.

During a hearing on Wednesday, the state’s counsel sought more time. However, the bench of justice Daya Chaudhary recorded that non-compliance of order was apparent as inspite of expiry of period of two months, the order had not been complied with. Now, the DGP has been asked to explain why the order was not complied with and has been summoned too.
