HISAR: Police booked a woman assistant sub-inspector (ASI) after a 42-year-old man committed suicide on Monday as he was allegedly upset over inaction over abduction and gangrape of his 17-year-old daughter by four youths in Hisar in September.

Hisar superintendent of police (SP) Shiv Charan said, “We have booked ASI Kamla Devi of the Agroha police station and the four accused, identified as Sumit, Anil, Bunty and Ajay, under Sections 306 (abetment to suicide), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The SP also formed a special investigation team (SIT), led by Barwala deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Jaipal Singh, to probe the case.

The deceased left a suicide note, alleging his minor daughter was abducted from their house by four youths of the same village under the Agroha police jurisdiction on September 17. On September 23, the police recovered the girl from Delhi.

It was alleged that ASI Kamla Devi registered a case of abduction against Ajay and Anil only, and kept the names of the two other accused out of the FIR. She did not slap gangrape charges even after the victim’s family lodged a complaint in this regard.

Victim’s brother told the police in his complaint that Kamla Devi had visited their house four days ago and pressured the family to agree for a “compromise” into the matter.

The SP said, “The police took the victim to a lady doctor for medical examination, but she refused to go for it. We recorded her statement under Section 164 of the CRPC. She said she had gone to Delhi on her own. Based on her statement, the police registered a case of abduction against the two accused and arrested them.”

We recorded her statement under Section 164 of the CRPC, on the basis of which registered a case of abduction against the two accused and nabbed them. SHIV CHARAN , Hisar SP
