Opponents blast SAD over ‘apology for its mistakes’

Mistakes and sins are two separate things. Akalis have deliberately committed sins. Portraying all these sins as small mistakes is itself another grave blunder on the part of the Akalis. KANWAR PAL SINGH, spokesperson, Dal Khalsa

AMRITSAR: Opponents and critics of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) took jibes at the party’s move to apologise for mistakes.

Sharing her views on Facebook, SGPC member Kiranjot Kaur said, “Arrogance!!! I am the guilty and I am the judge.”

In a statement issued here, Dal Khalsa termed the act as “drama”. “Mistakes and sins are two separate things. Akalis have deliberately committed sins by engineering pardon to Sirsa dera head, shielding guilty cops responsible for killing two Sikh protesters at Behbal Kalan, hobnobbing with heretical cults and seeking votes from dera premis during the last assembly polls. Portraying all these sins as small mistakes is itself an another grave blunder on the part of Akalis,” said party spokesman Kanwar Pal Singh.

Former All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF) president Manjit Singh Bhoma and former president Karnail Singh Peermohammad said the SAD leaders have confessed to their role in the sacrilege and they should be arrested.

On the other hand, former Punjab minister and BJP leader Luxmi Kanta Chawla did not spare the alliance partner of her party, saying the “SAD should clarify about the mistakes its leaders are apologising for”.

Meanwhile, former MP Rattan Singh Ajnala, who was recently expelled from the party for what was termed as his antiparty activities, said the Akal Takht jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh should excommunicate the Badals.
