Parties pushed Punjab to oblivion: Khaira

- HT Correspondent

BARNALA:AAM Aadmi Party (AAP) dissident leader and Bholath MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira on Tuesday said political parties have pushed Punjab to utter chaos and disorder for their vested interests.

Khaira said this while passing through various villages of Barnala district as part of the Insaaf March (march for justice) launched from Talwandi Sabo of Bathinda on Saturday. He was accompanied by Lok Insaaf Party MLA Balwinder Singh Bains besides AAP MLAS Pirmal Singh (Bhadaur), Nazar Singh Mansahia (Mansa), Jagdev Singh Kamalu (Maur) and Baldev Singh (Jaitu).

The march will culminate in Patiala on December 16.

Khaira demanded justice for the victims of 2015 police firing at Faridkot’s Behbal Kalan and also raised the issues of corruption, drugs and unemployment.

“People are dying of drug addiction. Recently, youths from Tamkot village in Mansa, Sekhu village of Talwandi Sabo and Faridkot died of drugs. Of the 39 Indians killed by the Islamic State (IS) in Iraq, 27 were from Punjab. You cannot blame our youth for leaving India. It is because of bad governance that people are fed up and are migrating to other countries,” the AAP rebel leader said.

Balwinder Singh Bains said, “The Congress formed government two years back, but it has failed to frame policies on industry, mining or farmers. At the Centre, Prime Minister Narendra Modi shares his ‘Mann ki baat.”
