GURUGRAM: The police on Thursday arrested 12 people, including eight women, from a guest house in Sector 45 for their alleged involvement in prostitution. Two teams from the Metro and Sector 40 police stations raided the guest house after sending decoy customers to the establishment.

The accused were identified as Jaspreet Singh, the owner and Baljeet Singh, the manager, along with two men and eight women aged between 20 and 25 years. Two of those women are from Uzbekistan and the rest are from West Bengal and Bihar, said the police.

A case was registered against the accused under the sections 3, 4, 5, 7 and 8 of the Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act, 1956, Section 3 of the Passport Act, 1967 and Section 14 of the Foreigners Act, 1946. The accused were produced in the district court and were sent to judicial custody, said the police.

“We had sent constable Anil Kumar, who was posing as a customer, at the ‘Krishna Residency’ guest house in Sector 45. He met the manager at the reception who demanded ₹7,000 for sending a foreign national to his room. He quoted ₹4,000 as the price for an Indian woman.

The decoy agreed and handed over three notes of ₹2000 denomination and one of ₹500 and to the manager to finalise the deal for ₹6,500,” said Poonam Hooda, SHO, Metro police station. At 6.30 pm, the constable signalled through a missed call to the SHO, who was standing guard along with the police party 100 metres away from the entry gate. “We raided the guest house and arrested the women, two clients, and the manager. We also recovered ₹6,500 from the manager that were given to him by the decoy customer,” Hooda said.

The owner was arrested from another guest house in DLF Phase-2 on Thursday, said police. “The women had been working for the owner for the last one year and used to give a share of their daily earnings to owner and manager,” the SHO said.
