Supporters of various parties were seen making last ditch efforts to garner votes outside the polling stations. In Hisar, an independent candidate Jyoti Dalmia lodged a complaint of fake voting. Police had to use mild force to disperse the supporters of Dalmia.

Barring a complaint about problem in the EVM and accusation of a bogus voting in Shadipur village of Yamunanagar, the polling remained peaceful. BABARPUR MANDI VOTERS BOYCOTT POLLS

Voters boycotted the elections in two booths of ward no 26 of Babar- pur Mandi in Panipat as out of total 1,740 voters, only 11 people cast their vote as they were objecting the merger of their village panchayat into the corporation. Panipat deputy commissioner-cum-district election officer said all arrangements were made to ensure the polling at these booths and the people who wanted to cast their voted were provided all assistance.

With polling concluding peacefully, all eyes are now set on December 19 when the poll results will be out. The poll outcome of five MCS will indicate the mood of the urban voters—considered to be the core vote bank of the Bjp---ahead of the high-stake 2019 Lok Sabha and state assembly polls. In Sunday’s election, the voters elected Mayor directly for the first time. Also, it was for the first time that the NOTA (none of the above) option was used in the polls as a “fictional electoral candidate.
