Hry police job aspirants risk lives to reach centres

- Sunil Rahar

AMBALA: Thousands of police aspirants from across the state had a tough time reaching their examination centres as trains and buses were running full to their capacity on Sunday, when a written examination for 5,000 posts of male constables in Haryana police was scheduled. A video showing hundreds of youths hanging on to the window of a moving train in Bhiwani and travelling to Panipat went viral on social media, once again highlighting the risk job aspirants are forced to take amid the widespread unemployment.

Satbir, a parent from Gurugram, said,“it seems the government has not taken any lessons from the fatal incident in the past and are letting people travel like this.”

Many even faced troubles due to the bad weather conditions. Amit Dalal, from Palwal, whose couldn’t appear for the exam as his bus got delayed, said, “It is unfortunate that the government and Haryana staff selection commission

did not make arrangements for students to take the exam in their own district.”

Sunil Mittal, a student from Sirsa, who had reached Ambala a day before to avoid the last minute rush, said, “We boarded a crowded bus from Sirsa to Ambala. After reaching here, we spent a sleepless night outside the exam centre. The government’s

claim of arranging extra buses for students is baseless.”

Haryana staff selection commission (HSSC) chairman Bharat Bhushan Bharti said the HSSC has written to the district roadways authorities to ply extra buses for students. “Any incident related to overcrowd in trains and buses has not come to my notice,” he added.
