‘Cong is raising frivolous issues to grab eyeballs’

Shimla:himachal Pradesh chief minister Jai Ram Thakur on Sunday accused the opposition Congress of resorting to vilificati­on campaign against his government.

“The Congress has nothing much to rake against Centre as well as against my government. My opponents are just raising issues to grab space in newspapers and television channels,” CM said while addressing Panna Pramukh Sammelan of Shimla parliament­ary constituen­cy in Solan. The convention was aimed at strengthen­ing and aiming the grassroots ahead of Lok Sabha elections.

“Opposition leaders are trying to mislead people by issuing false and fabricated statements. It has even failed to maintain basic decency,” he said. Jai Ram Thakur, one after the other, highlighte­d achievemen­ts of his government in one year and credited Modi government of backing the state's developmen­t. He said his government succeeded in getting developmen­tal projects worth ₹9,000 crore sanctioned in a short period of one year. He said that Jan Manch programme of state government has made the opposition jittery. Union health minister JP Nadda said today the BJP has emerged as the biggest political party of the world with over 12 crore members. He said that the credit of this goes to each and every grass root party workers of the state and country. He said that the state has taken a lead in launching this concept of Panna Pramukh in the country. He said that the BJP is a cadre-based organisati­on with a mass following. He said that each worker of the party is not only a mere worker but a leader.

CONGRESS TO OBSERVE DEC 27 AS ‘NIKAMMA DIWAS’

The opposition Congress will observe December 27— the first anniversar­y of the BJP government in Himachal Pradesh — as ‘Nikamma Diwas of Nikammi Sarkar’, a party leader said on Sunday. The Congress MLAS and office-bearers led by Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) president Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu will also submit a chargeshee­t against Thakur to governor Acharya Devvrat, an HPCC press release said.
