Police rescue kidnapped Moga 4-yr-old boy from Kapurthala, four arrested

Moga:police have rescued a kidnapped four-year-old boy, Farman Mohammad, of a slum area on the Zira road, from Kapurthala on Thursday, and arrested four persons.

Two car-borne miscreants had kidnapped the child from the grain market in Moga on Monday. Eye-witnesses had alleged that a woman sitting in the car had called the boy near her on the pretext of giving him a chocolate. When the boy complied, she had pulled him inside the car and fled the spot along with her aide, who was driving the vehicle.

The five accused are Charles Rauj, alias Nitin; Sunny; Preeti; Lakhwinder Singh, alias Lakha, of Moga and Kulwinder Kaur of Kapurthala. SSP Gulneet Singh Khurana said, “Two of the accused had kidnapped Farman in a car with a Delhi registrati­on number on Monday.”

“During investigat­ion, it was found that Farman had been sold by the five accused to one Dalwir Singh for ₹1.5 lakh,” said Gurpreet Singh, station house officer (SHO), City-i police station. He added Lakhwinder was on the run.

“On the day of the kidnapping, a case had been registered under sections 364 (kidnapping or abducting in order to murder) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtheranc­e of common intention) of the IPC at the City Police Station in Moga. The Honda Amaze used in the kidnapping has been recovered. We are investigat­ing if more people are involved,” added the SHO.
