CHANDIGARH: Haryana chief minister (CM) Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday said that an inquiry will be conducted into the allegations of irregularities in power utilities and other issues highlighted by Congress MLA Karan Dalal in a memorandum.

Speaking to mediapersons, Khattar said certain allegations levelled by the Congress MLA pertained to financial losses caused during the Congress reign and were required to be probed.

The CM announced to set in motion the process to release about 44,000 tubewell connections, pending for the last five years. Khattar said that demand notices for these pending applications would be issued by March 2019.

The CM said that aggregate technical and commercial (AT&C) losses came down to about 20% in 2017-18 as against 30% in 2015-16.

“Due to this, the power distribution companies earned profit for the first time.the UHBVN earned a profit of ₹278 crore in 2017-18 and the DHBVN earned a profit of ₹134 crore,’’ said Khattar.

The aggregate technical and commercial losses provide a realistic picture of energy and commercial loss by combining technical loss, electricity theft, inefficiency in billing and collection, and default in payment. The CM added that the power utilities have set a target to further reduce the AT&C losses to 15% by fiscal.

The CM said the rate of fuel surcharge adjustment (FSA) during the tenure of Congress regime was ₹1.72 per unit which has been reduced to only 37

paisa.

The CM said that the annual integrated rankings of Haryana power distribution companies issued by Union Ministry of Power have recorded remarkable improvement.

The rating of Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) has shot to the 10th spot during 2016-17 financial year as against
