Two dupe man of ₹4L on pretext of sending his son abroad

AMRITSAR:TWO travel agents were booked on Sunday for duping a resident of ₹4 lakh on the pretext of sending him to Singapore. The accused have been identified as Rajpal Singh and Parveen Kumar, both the residents of Dhariwal village, Kapurthala.

The complainan­t Ranbir Singh filed a complaint at Mohkampura police station on Sunday and stated that the accused had promised to arrange a visa to Singapore for his son Manpreet Singh and took ₹4 lakh on the pretext of sending him abroad.

Ranbir said, “I gave ₹4 lakh to the agents on May 14, 2017. The travel agents gave us visa papers and air tickets for Singapore twice, one for May 28, 2017 and other for June 3, 2017. But the documents were declared fake by the airport authoritie­s during the check. Not only visa papers but even the air tickets were fake.”

He further said, “We made several requests to the agents to return the money but they refused to do so. Later, the accused failed to arrange any visa and now they are not even returning the money.” Police said they registered a complaint earlier also but couldn’t identify the accused. ASI of Mohkampura police station Kulwant Singh said, “The accused are yet to be arrested. A case has been registered against the two travel agents under Section 420 (cheating), 465 (punishment for forgery), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document), 120-B (criminal conspiracy to commit an offence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections of the Punjab Prevention of Human Smuggling Act.”
