AMRITSAR : The members of Punjab Pradesh Beopar Mandal (PPBM) demanded revision of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and loan waiver.

Punjab Pradesh Beopar Mandal (PPBM) held a meeting with the members of Amritsar District Beopar Mandal (ADBM) at Service Club, here on Sunday where 60 traders and industrialists participated. While addressing the members, president of ADBM Surinder Duggal said, “The central government should revise its GST conditions for businesses. The government should put no GST on returned goods which are expired or broken. It is very difficult for middle-class businessmen to pay GST for those goods from their own pockets. The government has failed to make stable rules for GST as it has witnessed over 1,000 amendments till now.”

He added, “Not only this, the Central government has waived off the bank loans of farmers and big traders. However, middle-class businessmen are those who pay most tax to the government. The ‘anti-businessmen policies’ of the government are affecting the economy. The loans of businessmen should also be waived off.”“the VAT (value added tax) cases, which are due since June 2017, should also be figured out at first,” Duggal said.

President of PPBM Piara Lal Seth said, “Amritsar should get micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) development institute as it has four border districts. The institute can help in increasing trade in the state. The prevailing economic crisis in the state can only be sought through the growth of industries.” Mandal members also urged the government to start pension scheme for them.

Amritsar District Beopar Mandal also re-elected their 16 members on Sunday, in which Surinder Duggal became Mandal President, Rajinder Goyal vice-president and Anil Kapoor general secretary.
