BJP to use ‘Mann Ki Baat’ as campaign tool

- HT Correspondent

DEHRADUN: The BJP plans to use Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat as a campaigning tool for the 2019 general election. A public gathering was organised at Asharodi in Dehradun on Sunday where Modi’s radio programme was broadcasted.

At the gathering, BJP state president Ajay Bhatt said, “So far, 51 episodes of the programme have been broadcasted. He talks about women, jawans, fishermen and those working hard at the lowest level to earn their daily bread and make their ends meet.”

The party also distributed 228 radio sets to its divisional chiefs on Saturday. “Many people came to us and told us that they are not able to listen to Mann Ki Baat as they don’t have radio sets. So for now, we distributed these radio sets to the divisional chiefs and have asked them to make sure that the PM’S programme reaches people,” Bhatt told HT.

He said the party would distribute a total of 11,000 radio sets across the state, in order to ensure each booth has one.

“This is our long-term strategy and investment. We are planning for the next 10 years as Modiji’s Mann Ki Baat will continue. It will be our effort to distribute as many radio sets as possible before the moral code of conduct for Lok Sabha elections is put into place. It is important that people listen to what he says and are not misled by others,” Bhatt said.

He said party workers would try to ensure each of Modi’s monthly radio programme is broadcasted across the state, especially in remote areas where people do not have radio.
