CBI arrests income tax officer for accepting ₹50,000 graft

COMPLAINAN­T JASPAL LALI SAID HE MET ITO NARANG REGARDING THE TRANSACTIO­NS FROM HIS BANK ACCOUNT

HISAR : A team of the Central Bureau of Investigat­ion (CBI) on Thursday arrested three persons including an income tax officer (ITO) from Fatehabad for allegedly accepting ₹50,000 as graft.

It has also been alleged that the ITO identified as Chanderbha­n Narang also misbehaved with the CBI team and a complaint in this regarding has been made with the Fatehabad police station.

The matter came to light when a former chairperso­n of municipal council of Ratia town Jaspal Lali informed the CBI about the matter on Wednesday.

Lali said that he met ITO Narang regarding the transactio­ns from his bank account last month. Soon after, Narang asked for ₹75,000 from him to sort out the problem, he added. It has been alleged that the deal was fixed for ₹50,000 and the money was supposed to provide another two persons.

On Thursday, according to the plan, when Lali handed over the money to other two persons, the CBI team arrested them and the ITO, who allegedly misbehaved with sub-inspector Prabhjot Singh.

The team informed about the matter to police for further action. Huda police post in-charge Risal Singh said that after receiving the complaint, police are under process to register an FIR after investigat­ion into the matter.
