- HT Correspondent

SHIMLA : Chief minister Jai Ram Thakur requested the Union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari to declare the 53 state roads approved in principle for Himachal Pradesh as national highways at New Delhi on Thursday.

Thakur told Gadkari that the alignments for the roads had already been submitted to the Union ministry and requested him to sanction the estimates for the five remaining national highways and the Theog bypass.

He also asked him to notify the Sarkaghat-ghumarwin and Ranital–kotla state roads as new national highways(nhs).

Thakur sought approval for the inclusion of the Hamirpurmandi (NH 70) and Paonta Sahib–gumma–fedaj bridge (NH 72) under the second phase of the NH interconnectivity improvement projects.

Thakur also apprised Gadkari of the slow progress of the four-laning of the Kalka-solan NH project that was resulting in heavy traffic jams.

He said there was no progress in the Mataur-shimla (NH 88) and Pathankot–mandi (NH 20) roadwork. He also pitched for improving the Nadaun-hamirpur and Brahmpukhar–shimla highways(nh 88) and the Pathankot–mandi (NH 20) highway.

He said work had been stopped on the Kiratpur Saheb– Ner Chowk (NH 21) and added that there had been a delay in awarding Pinjore-baddi-nalagarh four-laning project

Gadkari assured the CM that work on the Pathankot-mandi highway will be started at the earliest and that ₹27 crore had been released for the project.

GADKARI ASSURED THE CM THAT WORK ON THE PATHANKOT-MANDI HIGHWAY WILL SOON BE STARTED AND THAT ₹27CR HAD BEEN RELEASED FOR IT
