CHANDIGARH: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’S Punjab unit has offered its support to former leader of opposition Harvinder Singh Phoolka in his fight to free the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) from the “clutches of Badals”.

Reacting to Phoolka’s decision to start a movement in Punjab for this, AAP legislature party leader Harpal Singh Cheema said the party was in complete agreement with Phoolka on this. “We also want to free SGPC from the control of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and the Badals. As Phoolka and the party are on the same page on fight against corruption and drugs, there was no need for him to quit,” he said.

Cheema appealed to Phoolka to reconsider his decision. Phoolka’s resignation will pave the way for a bypoll in the Dakha constituency.

AAP CRUMBLING IN PUNJAB: JAKHAR

The Congress has called resignation of Dakha MLA HS Phoolka as “another step towards total disintegration” of the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab.

State Congress president Sunil Jakhar said the AAP had won a sizeable chunk of votes in Punjab promising alternate politics. “The party created much hue and cry about changing the state’s politics. It has totally collapsed. People are feeling let down as the AAP has lost all its credibility in the state,” he said.
