CBI registers FIR in Hoshiarpur youth murder case
PUNJAB AND HARYANA HIGH COURT HAD TRANSFERRED
THE CASE TO THE CENTRAL AGENCY ON DECEMBER 10, 2018
CHANDIGARH : The CBI on Wednesday lodged an FIR in a suspected murder of one Jagpreet Singh alias Jaggi on February 9, 2016.
The development came after the Punjab and Haryana high court on December 10 last directed the bureau in this regard. Pardeep Singh, the complainant, from Dasuya, Hoshiarpur, had alleged murder in the death of his nephew.
The CBI filed an FIR against the four accused—navjot Singh, Gurjinder Singh, Paramjit Singh and Amit Kumar— all from Hoshiarpur in the case.
The police had registered a case of murder on February 13, 2016 against the four accused. Amit and Gurjinder on February 14, after their arrests, had disclosed the chilling details of the murder executed by the four accused.
The same was corroborated by the evidence recovered and the forensic report later.
Navjot, one of the accused, had managed to secure pre-arrest bail. The victim’s mother had approached the court, for cancellation of Navjot’s bail, which had observed that witnesses turning hostile because of pressure could not be ruled out.
The court had also lambasted police for its lackadaisical approach in handling the case and ignoring the autopsy report, which had showed injury marks on the deceased’s body.
