Panchayat asks murder accused’s family to leave Yamunanagar village

- Sunil Rahar

YAMUNANAGAR:THE panchayat in Yamunanagar’s Ghispur village on Friday asked a murder accused’s family to leave the village within two months.

Manoj was arrested for the murder of Sandeep Kumar of same village on December 29. His father Swaran Singh said panchayat has asked his family to leave the village because his son allegedly murdered a youth.

“Sarpanch was also present when panchayat asked me to vacate my house and leave the village in two months. Panchayat stated that I have no right to live in the village because my son allegedly murdered a village youth,” he added.

He further alleged that villagers asked him and his wife to sit on the floor during village panchayat.

Radaur police had arrested Manoj Kumar and his uncle Mahak on December 29 for allegedly murdering Sandeep Kumar near a tubewell on the outskirts of Ghispur village on the night of December 23. Moreover, as per Radaur Police, Manoj had confessed to his crime and stated that he committed the crime because of deceased’s illicit relations with his wife.

However, Manoj’s family is living in Ghispur village while his uncle’s family hails from another village.

On being asked about panchayat’s decision, deceased’s father Ram Kumar said that the village panchayat asked Manoj’s father to leave the village because of his son’s role in “killing” his son Sandeep.

“His son has destroyed my family. If he gets bail, he could be a threat to my family. Villagers have given an ultimatum to Manoj’s family. They don’t have a piece of land and presently they are living on encroached land. It’s good to shift them to another village as a safety measure,” the deceased’s father added.

Village sarpanch’s husband Parmod said, “I had not asked Manoj’s father to leave the village but it was announced by his community people. I was invited in the meeting, so I went there. I am opposing the order.”

Meanwhile DSP Radaur Ajay Rana said, “I had sent an SHO to visit the village and he found out that some miscreants had announced such decision. We have warned the villagers to stay away from such decisions. Manoj’s family will stay in the same village. If such things happens, I will arrest the miscreants.”
