‘CENTRE NEVER PRESENTED UNCONDITIONAL TALKS OFFER’

-

SRINAGAR: Hurriyat chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday said the Centre never presented ‘unconditional talks’ offer on Kashmir, and rather the Union government has been looking towards military solution. Mirwaiz was responding to the statement of Union home minister Rajnath Singh, wherein Singh on Thursday had said in the Rajya Sabha that the Centre was ready for talks but Hurriyat closed it’s doors for negotiations.

Farooq said he wants to put the record straight about offer of talks by New Delhi.

“There was never any offer of unconditional talk at any point by this government. On the contrary, all effort by this government was towards a military solution with the view to integrate Kashmir and even do away with its special status,” he said while addressing a Friday congregation at city’s grand mosque Jamia Masjid.
