6 killed in 3 Himachal accidents

ALL THE ACCIDENTS TOOK PLACE AFTER DRIVERS REPORTEDLY LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLES

SHIMLA/DHARAMSHAL­A:A total of six persons were killed and three injured in separate road accidents in Sirmaur and Chamba districts of Himachal Pradesh on Thursday night.

In the first incident, two persons were killed at Sanghrah of Sirmaur district on Mayina-rajana-ganog road when a tipper they were travelling in fell into a deep gorge late . The tipper was on its way to Rajana from Pathiar . According to police, the mishap took place after driver lost control of the vehicle.

The deceased were identified as Balbir Singh (driver), 33, a resident of Rajana in Sirmaur district and Surinder Singh, 35, a resident of Nerwa, Shimla. The duo was rushed to civil hospital, Dadahu, but was pronounced brought dead. The bodies were handed over to the family members after postmortem.

In another accident, a 20-yearold man was killed and two others sustained injuries after the car they were travelling in fell into a gorge near Dakkar Dhar of Shillai in Sirmour district late on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Upal Singh of Muniarh village in Sirmour. “There were a total of four occupants in the vehicle. The mishap took place when the driver lost control of the vehicle and jumped out before it fell into the gorge,” police said.

The police retrieved the dead body and sent it for postmortem at Shillai civil hospital. The injured were admitted and were later referred to Paonta Sahib. The body was handed over to the family members after postmortem. A case of rash and negligent driving under Sections 279, 337 and 304A was registered.

Another three people were killed and one was injured when a jeep plunged into a gorge in remote Bagheigarh in Tissa subdivisio­n of Chamba district on Thursday night. Deceased were identified as Upender Chauhan and Tek Chand of Lansui village, and Bittu from Bagheigarh area. Injured Gian Singh was admitted to Tissa civil hospital.

“Four friends had gone to a temple at Chanju. While they were returning, the jeep skidded off the road and plunged into a 100-metre gorge. Prima facie, Gian Singh, who was driving the vehicle, lost control on the wheel while negotiatin­g a sharp curve,” police said.

Injured were rushed to Tissa hospital where the trio was declared brought dead. A case was registered against the driver and investigat­ions are on.
