Govt completed only 72 of 280 projects announced in Ambala
WITH LESS THAN A YEAR LEFT BEFORE STATE GOES TO THE POLLS, 112 PROJECTS ARE YET TO BE STARTED
AMBALA : The Manohar Lal Khattar government has been in power in Haryana for over 50 months, yet it has only been able to complete 72 out of the 280 announcements made in Ambala. With less than one year left before the state goes to the polls again, there are around 93 projects that are underway while work on 112 projects is yet to take off. Besides, three other projects were found unfeasible
Additional deputy commissioner Capt Shakti Singh said that works that have been completed include Ambala cantonment’s civil hospital building at an estimated cost of ₹55 crore, road construction in Ambala city at an estimated cost of ₹22 crore, work on 220 KV substation at a cost of ₹26.93 in Sonta village of the district.
“Under the Pradhan Mantri Sadak Yojana, four roads were built at a cost of ₹42 crore. Moreover, the construction of National Highway 73, connecting Panchkula to Mullana and Yamunanagar, was also constructed,” he added. The three announcements that were found unfeasible include a water treatment plant in Naggal village of the district, construction of two culverts in village Dukheri and Chudala on Nalvi distributory and extension of LMB Markanda-ambala-saharanpur line to construct a dam for the protection of villages Hemamajra, Ghallary and Sohna on Markanda river. On being asked about the reasons behind why the projects were not feasible, “The two culverts were not constructed as the decision regarding de-notification of Dadupur Nalvi land enhancement is in court. Moreover, the dam couldn’t be constructed as the Hema Majra villagers sought ₹1 crore per acre, which was not possible. The water treatment plant was also uneconomical and technically unfeasible,” he added.
He further states that most of the pending announcements were announced in past two to three months, adding that the work under progress will be completed at the earliest.
