ISC: Vijay Laxmi elected general president for 2021
THE FIVE-DAY ISC WAS ATTENDED BY PRIME MINISTER NARENDRA MODI, FOUR UNION MINISTERS, PUNJAB GOVERNOR AND THREE NOBEL LAUREATES
JALANDHAR: On the valedictory day of the five-day Indian Science Congress (ISC), the members of the ISC Association made amendments in the process to elect the general president and other members, even as it elected Dr Vijay Laxmi Saxena as general president for 2021. The annual general meeting was held at Lovely Professional University (LPU) on Monday.
As per the amendments made, the members have decided that any contender contesting for the general president of ISCA should be a member of the association for 15 years and should have teaching or research experience of similar number of years .
Similarly, contenders for the general secretary or treasurers should have experience of 10 years.
Ashok K Saxena, Indian Science Congress, former general president, confirming the amendments said that earlier there was no such tenure specified for fighting the elections and anybody after securing the membership of ISCA could have fought the elections.
The five-day long ISC on the theme of ‘Future India: Science and Technology’ was attended by Prime Minister Narendra modi, four Union ministers, Punjab governor , three Nobel laureates and personalities from diverse sectors all across the world.
Meanwhile, after two unscientific lectures were delivered by the top scientists at the ISC, the members of the ISC decided to keep a tab on the lectures in future.
