KARNAL/HISAR : The nationwide two strike of central trade unions evoked poor response in the state, with no visible impact on roadways buses and government offices.

Employees under the banner of Sarv Karamchari Sangh held a protest march, accusing the central and state governments of ignoring the employees and bringing in anti-worker policies and unilateral labour reforms.

The protesters were demanding regularisation of contractual employees, implementation of old pension scheme, fixing the minimum wages at ₹18,000 per month and filling all vacant posts in all government departments of the state.

In the northern districts of Karnal, Kaithal, Kurukshetra and Panipat, the roadways buses plied normally and there was no major impact on the work in government offices, besides post offices and banks.

The district administration had made heavy police deployment at the bus stands to deal with any untoward incident.

In Hisar, Sirsa and Fatehabad too, all the roadways buses started on time. Surender Maan, president of Sarva Karamchari Sangh’s Hisar unit, said, “We don’t intend to disturb the common people. Our fight is against the government. We have already said that we are not going to disturb any common facilities, but if the department faces technical glitch, the workers will not go to sort out the problem.”

Meanwhile, workers of various departments such as municipal corporation took out a protest march in Hisar.
