Gangster wanted in murder of Dinanagar man held in Jalandhar

JALANDHAR : A Saini group gangster Gurpreet alias Kaka,20, wanted in the murder of a 27-year-old man from Dinanagar in Gurdaspur district and for injuring two of his aides on last Diwali night, was on Tuesday arrested with a pistol, live cartridges and two magazines.

Assistant inspector general of police Harkamalpr­eet Singh Khakh said that Kaka was arrested following a tip-off that the gangster was heading to Jalandhar by road. “We along with the Jalandhar rural police conducted a special checking near Jallowal Chowk and apprehende­d him at Bhogpur. Kaka initially tried to flee after seeing the police party, but we managed to arrest him,” Khakh said.

Khakh said that during preliminar­y interrogat­ion, Kaka disclosed that he worked for Saini gang active in Gurdaspur which is headed by Gangster Devinder Saini, who is also absconding.

Earlier, Kaka along with his accomplice Devinder and others had shot dead Mukhwinder, when the latter was going to market along with his friends in Dinanagar on Diwali night.

“Kaka revealed that after committing murder, they had left the state and went to Patna Sahib (Bihar), where they stayed for two months,” Khakh said.

He said that Gurdaspur Police had already arrested some accused in this case but the main conspirato­rs Devinder Saini and Gurpreet Kaka were on the run.

Meanwhile, the case has been registered under Sections 25/54/59 of the Arms Act at Bhogpur police station for carrying illegal weapons.
