Modi to interact with students

NEWDELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on January 29 interact with students, parents, and teachers ahead of the annual class 10 and 12 board exams in March, according to a government official.

‘Pariksha pe Charcha [discussion about exams] 2.0’ will be Modi’s second such interaction since 2018. He had in February last year interacted with class 10 and 12 students. Modi spoke about Yoga and gave tips to parents, teachers, and students on how to relax before exams. He told students that exam scores should not be the sole goal like election results. The focus must remain on learning, he had emphasised.

The official said hundreds of students were expected to gather for the interaction at Delhi’s Talkatora stadium. “Millions of people will watch the interaction [on TV and the internet]. This year, the external affairs ministry is even making arrangements to beam the interaction in several foreign countries with a substantial number of Indian students.”

The winner of a caption contest announced for students from class 10 to 12 on the governmentrun Mygov.in website would also be called for the interaction.

Students have also been asked about anything Modi’s book, Exam Warriors, that may have altered their approach towards exams as part of another contest titled ‘I am inspired’. “It can be a mantra, it could be a concept, or it could be the whole ‘Exam Warriors’ book itself. Tell us one instance or situation where something from ‘Exam Warriors’ inspired you to deal with a situation or do something different,” the website says.

‘Exam Warriors’, a handy guide for students, was released in February 2018. Modi wrote it following the positive response to his speech on exams in an episode of his monthly radio broadcast, Mann Ki Baat. Khushi, a class 10 Delhi student who attended the interaction last year, said the thought of exams would sometimes make her nervous. But she is no longer afraid of exams.
