11 injured in grenade attack in Srinagar

SRINAGAR: Eleven people, including four policemen and three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel, were injured in a grenade attack by suspected militants in Srinagar on Sunday, police said.

Police spokespers­on Manoj Kumar said that they rushed to Paladium Cinema in Maisuma area of Lal Chowk following reports of a grenade attack by terrorists.sources said that an assistant sub-inspector and two constables of 132 battalion were among the three injured Central Reserve Police Force personnel.

The injured civilians, including two women, were identified as Humaira, Taliba Gulshan, Abdul Qayoom and Shadab Shah.

The injured were shifted to the hospital for treatment. “They are stated to be stable,” the police spokespers­on said.

A case in this regard was registered and officials are trying to establish circumstan­ces of the attack. Police have requested people to assist them if they have any informatio­n that can help in the investigat­ion. SRINAGAR : Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday ordered an inquiry into alleged manhandlin­g of a woman by police during a raid to recover a ‘kidnapped’ girl in Shopian district.the inquiry was ordered after a video, showing some policemen ‘manhandlin­g’ a woman in a village in Shopian on Saturday night, went viral on social media.

A police spokespers­on clarified that the incident happened during an investigat­ion of kidnapping case of a minor girl.

“The video is being probed and an inquiry is ordered to examine the conduct of the policemen,” the spokespers­on said.

He said, “During investigat­ion, a police party went to the residence of the accused persons for recovering the kidnapped girl. However, on reaching there, the police found two accused—mohsin Khan and Saleem Khan in the house. “The family members of the accused especially women came forward and tried to block the policemen on duty. Meanwhile, one of the accused managed to escape,” the spokespers­on said.
