SRINAGAR: After many Kashmiri students studying outside the state complained of receiving threats and harassment in the backdrop of the attack on CRPF personnels in Pulwama district, the

Jammu and Kashmir Police have setup a helpline for the assistance of students and other Kashmiris living outside the Valley.

Since Thursday, Kashmiri students and traders have complained that they have been facing harassment in their hostels and places where they live, outside the state.

You can call us for any kind of assistance on,’’ a police spokespers­on tweeted. Police have also establishe­d helplines in every district of the Valley for any sort of assistance to contact them.

Earlier, J&K former CM Omar Abdullah had sought interventi­on of home minister, Rajnath Singh regarding Kashmiri students facing threat and harrasment in different parts of the country.

“I took the opportunit­y to inform Rajnath Singh of the reports I had received of Kashmiri students & others being threatened/harassed and requested him to appoint a nodal officer in Union ministry of home affairs to ensure the directive issued to states is followed in letter and spirit,” Omar tweeted.
