Abhay slams BJP over mention of bypoll win in governor’s address
CHANDIGARH: Leader of opposition Abhay Chautala on Thursday attacked the ruling BJP over mention of BJP’S victory in five municipal corporations and Jind bypoll in the governor’s address.
Abhay, who was speaking during the discussion on the governor’s address on the second day of the ongoing budget session of the Vidhan Sabha, categorically objected to para number 150 of the governor address on Wednesday, which mentioned the BJP’S victory in elections to five municipal corporations and the Jind bypoll.
“Is he the governor of a state or BJP’S pracharak?” he asked and held that such a mention in the name of government’s achievements was unfortunate and unprecedented in the history of state assembly.
Abhay also contested the government’s claim over its achievements with regard to increase in income of farmers.
It was at this point when cooperation minister Manish Grover started loudly stating that the BJP government had extended unprecedented benefits to farmers unlike during the INLD regime when they were looted while the leaders amassed huge properties.
Irked over the Grover’s comment, Abhay dared him to substantiate his charges and claimed that everyone in the state knows that there has not been any increase in the family property.
Parliamentary affairs minister Ram Bilas Sharma repeatedly tried to explain to Abhay that there was no political tinge in the governor’s address, but the INLD ledaerv was not satisfied with his explanation.
Later, chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar had to intervene and he read out the entire para (number 150) which he said, meant that the results of the five MCS and Jind bypoll were the evidence of the faith and support of the people in the government’s policies.
