2 national judo players loot, murder bizman in Rohtak
ROHTAK:THE district police on Friday arrested two national-level judo players and a woman for looting and murdering a local businessman last week. The body of businessman Ramesh Puniyani was accidentally found from a canal on Monday when divers were searching for something else. He was missing since two days.
The police said Puniyani was in touch with a woman identified as Jyoti, 20, from past few months. Jyoti was married to a man in Shamli (UP), but was living with her sister in Rohtak after a dispute with her husband.
In Rohtak, Jyoti had an affair with 19-year-old former national-level Judo player Happy alias Sunny.
Happy, with help of his friend Dikshant,18, another nationallevel Judo player, chalked a plan to rob Puniyani after they found through Jyoti that he often carried cash and jewellery with him.
On Sunday, Jyoti called Puniyani to a hotel, after which she asked him to drop her to Rajiv Gandhi Sports Stadium, where as per their plan, Happy and Dikshant were waiting. After Puniyani dropped Jyoti on his twowheeler late Sunday night, the two players attacked him at a secluded spot and hit a lathi on his head.
After Puniyani lost consciousness, the two accused looted Rs 60,000 from his cash bag and removed his gold rings, chain and bracelet.
They then threw the unconscious Puniyani in a canal. The two accused along with Jyoti then fled to Haridwar. The police found about the murder after the CCTV footage of the hotel caught Puniyani leaving with Jyoti, following which raids were carried to nab her.
The police said all three accused will be produced in the court on Friday.
