MAN GETS LIFE TERM FOR MURDERING SON

HISAR: A local court has awarded life imprisonme­nt to a Rohtakbase­d auto-rickshaw driver who killed his son five-year-old son by throwing him from a flyover on the Jind bypass in Hansi town of Hisar district three years ago.

In his verdict on Thursday, additional district and sessions judge DR Chalia also also slapped a fine of Rs 10,500 on accused Mahabir Singh, had who had thrown his son Shubham and 11-year-old daughter Saloni from the flyover on March 23, 2016. Later, he had himself jumped from a flyover as well.

While his son Shubham died during treatment at the local general hospital Hisar, he and his daughter sustained serious injuries. The police said Mahavir was upset with his domestic life as he was going through a financial crisis. He had brought the two children from Rohtak to Hansi purportedl­y for Holi celebratio­ns, as the incident took place on the festival of colours. His wife was not with him that day.

Though the police reached near the spot after getting an alert from some passersby just before the incident, the accused threw his children from the flyover immediatel­y after he saw the cops coming and then jumped himself too. Police rushed the three of them to a private hospital from where they were referred to the Hisar civil hospital. His son died during the treatment while Mahabir and Saloni were admitted with serious injuries.
