Sikh hardliners behind attack on Sena man: NIA

MOHALI:THE attack on Shiv Sena leader Amit Arora in Ludhiana in February 2016 was part of a transnatio­nal conspiracy hatched by the senior leadership of Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF).

This has been stated by the National Investigat­ion Agency (NIA) in the chargeshee­t filed against the eight murder bid accused before the NIA special court in Mohali on Friday.

On February 3, 2016, Arora was sitting in his car in the Basti Jodhewal area on the GT Road in Ludhiana when two bike-borne men allegedly opened fire at him. Arora had claimed that a bullet had grazed past his neck.

Initially, the Ludhiana police had booked Arora for staging the attack on himself, but later they claimed it was part of targeted killings of Hindu leaders in Punjab at the behest of Pakistan’s Inter-services Intelligen­ce (ISI).

The challan has been filed against Hardeep Singh, Ramandeep Singh, Dharminder Singh, Anil Kumar, Jagtar Singh Johal, Harmeet Singh, and Gurjinder Singh and Gursharanb­ir Singh.

The 21-year-old victim and her male friend were kidnapped by five miscreants from near Issewal Bridge and held hostage for money till morning.

The woman was gangraped at a vacant plot, while her friend was physically tortured.

The accused had demanded ₹2 lakh from their friends for the safe release.
