Fresh snowfall in Himachal

SHIMLA: High altitudes regions in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday experience­d a fresh bout of snow due to the western disturbanc­es, the meterologi­cal department said.

The weatherman has forecast more snow and rains in mid and high hills in the next 24 hours. Shimla and its surroundin­g areas experience­d light traces of snowfall on Tuesday evening, while Kufri, Narkanda and Kharapatha­r experience­d light shower spell.

Kalpa, district headquarte­r of Kinnaur received 7cm of snow, Dalhousie 5cm and Keylang recorded 5cm snowfall. The night temperatur­es in Manali fell to -2.6 °C. Kufri recorded a minimum temperatur­e of -2.9°C. As many as 28 patients are stranded in parts of Lahaul and Spiti district as the region remains cut-off due to snow. avalanche that hit a patrolling party near an outpost in Namgia Dogri along China border.

Meanwhile, the Jammu-srinagar national highway remained closed for the second day on Tuesday following landslides triggered by rains in Ramban district, officials said. The highway was blocked on Monday due to landslides at Mompassi in Ramsu area. It was learnt that at least 500 Jammu-bound vehicles were stranded between Pnathyal and Banihal, while 600 oil tankers, bound for the valley, are stuck at Ramban, Chennai and Kud areas.
