SERGEANT FROM JHAJJAR AMONG THOSE KILLED
ROHTAK :A pall of gloom descended on Bhadani village in Jhajjar after news of Indian Air Force personnel Vikrant Sehrawat’s killing in a chopper crash in Kashmir’s Budgam district reached here on Wednesday.
Sehrawat, 36, had joined the IAF around 14 years ago and was posted as a sergeant.five other IAF personnel and a civilian were also killed in the chopper crash, which, the government said, took place due to technical glitches.
Sehrawat was recently shifted to Srinagar after a long stint in Coimbatore.
He is survived by his wife Suman, their fiveyear-old daughter Kavya and one-year-old son Vardhaan.
After Sehrawat was shifted to Srinagar, his kids and wife had come to Jhajjar to live with his family in the village.
Sehrawat’s father Krishan is a farmer while his mother is a homemaker. He had two sisters, both of whom are married, and a younger brother who works in a private company.
Inconsolable at the loss of his son, Krishan said, “The only solace we can find at this time of pain is that our son died for our country. I salute him.”
The family said there was no information yet about when his body would be brought to the village. Bhadani sarpanch
