‘I was able to infuse work culture in my constituency’

-

One thing you wished to do as an MP but couldn’t? Why?

You can pick statistics of developmental works done before 2014 and compare it with my term. I can say with conviction that I infused work culture in my constituency. We ensured that all the areas get focused attention. Somebody has to answer why this constituency remained backward all these decades even as it has given Union ministers.

Would you like to contest again? Why should the people re-elect you?

I belong to a party where leadership decides who will contest. Sometimes party wants you to contribute somewhere else. It’s okay with me whatever the party decides. But, I have enough documentary proof to support my performance. I raised funds from voluntarily sources for public welfare. (The party high command has again given him the mandate to contest from Udhampur)

This time, Congress candidate Vikaramaditya and Choudhary Lal Singh are the probable rivals. Will it be a smooth sailing for the BJP?

Even 2014 was not a smooth ride for us and the media had predicted that the seat will go to the Congress. As far as the BJP is concerned, every election is taken seriously.

How was your experience in the Parliament?

I tried my best to contribute to the welfare of the people and I think, it was a great learning experience because it was for the first time that I entered the highest temple of democracy.
