PM’S APPEAL ON CLIMATE TIMELY

During his address in the UN Climate Action Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has rightly exhorted the world community to act to reduce the adverse effects of climate change. Now is the time to bring in required changes in our behaviour to prevent deteriorat­ion in the quality of environmen­t. Modi’s appeal for caution is very appropriat­e and must be heeded by all countries. Future generation­s deserve clean air to breathe, good quality drinking water and pollution-free resources of the planet. Otherwise they may have to face troublesom­e diseases and unexpected disasters.

Subhash Vaid young age understand­s the important issue of climate change and is creating a global awareness among people about it. We have seen natural disasters such as floods and droughts in India and around the world. These are caused by human activities such as deforestat­ion. Burning of fossil fuels leads to global warming. Another impact of climate change is that summers are now expanding and winters are contractin­g. We must take these issues seriously and spread awareness among people.

It should not become just another card in the plethora of already existing cards, as it happened in the case of Aadhaar card. It must be replacemen­t to the all existing cards and not an addition.
