INDIA MUST BE CAUTIOUS ON DIPLOMATIC FRONT

-

The pro-us inclination of the Indian foreign policy may not prove to be a prudent line, considering our past experiences, when the the US sided with Pakistan in 1965 and 1971 wars. Trade is the key driver of America’s foreign policy. Of late, Prime Minister Narendra Modi seems to have developed a uncanny trust in Trump, who has frequently shifted goalposts on his intent to mediate between Pakistan and India over Kashmir, despite knowing well that it is a bilateral issue. With this tilt in foreign policy, New Delhi is moving away from its old and trusted friend Russia and aggravating its feud with China. India will do well to tread cautiously on the diplomatic front.

(retd), Patiala Ghulam Nabi Azad’s allegation that there is no democracy in Kashmir is unfounded. During his tenure as the CM of Jammu and Kashmir between 2005 and 2008, separatists were pampered, while the common man endured poverty. There were atrocities on Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley under his watch. Successive Congress governments gave sops to secure their vote bank, but never tried to bring the promising youth of the state into the mainstream. Azad has no moral right to demean his opponents.

Usha Verma, Chandigarh in provincial and national politics is remarkable and a testimony to Punjabi diaspora’s success in Canada.

Beant Singh Bedi, Mohali vulnerability is the biggest asset of fake news peddlers. The government should not let them use it anymore.
