J&K GOVT DISBANDS SEVEN STATUTORY BODIES
SRINAGAR: With just seven days left for Jammu and Kashmir to become a Union Territory (UT), the government on Wednesday disbanded seven statutory bodies, including J&K Accountability Commission and Women’s Commission.
The general administration department on Wednesday issued an order through which seven bodies have been disbanded.
Last week, the government had disbanded the Upper House of J&K assembly.
After October 31, the state will be converted into a UT.
“Consequent upon repeal of the J&K State Accountability Commission Act, 2002 by the J&K Reorganization Act, 2019, sanction is hereby accorded to the winding up of J&K State Accountability Commission with effect from 31-10-2019 i.e. the appointed date for the formation of the UT of J&K and UT of Ladakh, “reads an order issued by secretary GAD Farooq Lone.
The order further stated that the chairperson/ members of the J& K State Accountability Commission shall cease to hold office w.e.f. October 31.
According to the order, the staff posted in the J&K State Accountability Commission, drawn from various departments shown, have been asked to report to the administrative departments concerned by October 31. The similar orders have been issued for State Commission for Women and Child Rights, State Commission for Persons with Disabilities, J&K State Electricity Regularity Commission, State Consumer Disputes Commission and State Human Rights Commission.
