Police put ₹30L bounty on three more terrorists

JAMMU:A day after the Doda police announced a bounty on the heads of two terrorists belonging to Hizbul Mujahideen, operating in the district adjoining Kishtwar, police on Wednesday also announced a bounty on three other terrorists in the district.

The police have put posters of Jahangir Saroori, Riyaz and Mudssair in Kishtwar, and have put a ₹30 lakh bounty on their heads. “There were six terrorists active in Kishtwar. Three of them were neutralised in the Batote encounter with security forces last month. We have offered a bounty on the remaining three terrorists, including Jahangir Saroori, who is the mastermind of recent killings in the Kishtwar and main conspirator behind reviving militancy in the region,” said, Harmeet Singh Mehta ,SSP, Kishtwar.

The SSP said around 22 overground workers had been arrested by the police in the district. These workers were aiding terrorist activities.two OGWS, including the brother of Jahangir Saroori, had been apprehend by the police.

For the past one year efforts were on to revive the militancy in the region.terrorists first executed the killings of BJP leader Anil Parihar and his brother and later eliminated senior RSS functionary Chanderkant Sharma and his security guard in Kishtwar.

In March this year, terrorists snatched an AK-47 rifle and three magazines of the personal security officer of Kishtwar deputy commissioner. In May, two special police officers were injured in an encounter with terrorists in Appan area of Marwah belt in the same district.
