SANGRUR: The ETT-TET Unemployed Teachers’ Union and the Unemployed BED Teachers’ Union on Sunday held protests outside the residences of six cabinet ministers of Punjab across the state demanding jobs.

The unemployed teachers held protests near the residence of state transport minister Razia Sultana in Malerkotla, finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal and revenue minister Gurpeet Singh Kangar in Bathinda, local bodies minister Brahm Mohindra in Patiala, sports minister Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi in Ferozepur and technical education minister Charanjit Singh Channi at Chamkaur Sahib.

“Education minister Vijay Inder Singla has assured us that our demands will be discussed during cabinet meeting to be held on December 18. We demand that the government should take a decision on our long-pending demands,” said press secretary of the Unemployed

BED Teachers’ Union Randeep Sangatpura. “Also, we demand that Singla should apologise for the language used against protesting teachers in Barnala last week,” he added.

The union members said that if their demands are not discussed in cabinet meeting, they will hold protest along with farmerand other outfits outside the residence of Singla on December 25.

While the Bed-pass aspiring teachers are demanding an immediate recruitment of 15,000 candidates, besides relaxation in the upper age limit (from 37 to 42 tears), the ETT-TET-PASS Teachers’ Union is demanding regular jobs to 12,000 aspirants on the basis of Class 12 with ETT.
