TO HOLD SEMINARS IN EACH DISTRICT OF PUNJAB TO SPREAD AWARENESS AMONG YOUTH TO SAVE THEM FROM BEING TRAPPED BY TRAVEL AGENTS

AMRITSAR:THE Canadian embassy will hold seminars in each district of Punjab on the immigration policies to spread awareness among the youth to save them from being trapped by travel agents, said Elek Adamski, migration program manager of Consulate General of Canada, on Tuesday.

He made the statement during ‘capacity building programme’ that was organised by the district administration and Canada high commission at Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU). The programme for the youth interested in work, study and temporary resident visas for Canada is aimed at educating them about Canadian immigration policies.

Anindita Buragohain, migration outreach officer of Canadian high commission, said, “India has highest number of youth and it is our duty to educate them, so that besides planning their future in India, they can also fulfill their dream of going abroad. Punjab government had already signed agreements with Japan, Germany and Canada to provide them skilled youth. The youth instead of approaching fake travel agents should apply online for Candian visa. ”

Also, the people should not mention their contact numbers and address of travel agent on their visa application as embassy finds it difficult to contact the actual appliers and sometimes the information received through travel agents are faulty, which leads to rejection of visa applications, she added.

Amritsar DC Shiv Dular Singh Dhillon said, “The youth should focus on skills as it will not only get them jobs in India but will also help them find good jobs in abroad.”
