FIRMS ASK EMPLOYEES TO WORK FROM HOME

GURUGRAM : As the city witnessed massive traffic jams in several areas due to barricadin­g by the Delhi Police on the Gurugram-delhi border to check vehicles entering the national capital on Thursday, office goers were stuck for hours in jams. It forced many companies to ask their employees to work from home or leave office early.

Areas like Udyog Vihar, Shankar Chowk and Cyber City where a large number of corporate and private companies are situated witnessed severe traffic jams since 8.30am. Many office goers, based in Delhi and Noida, complained that the traffic police officials asked them to return to their homes due to the congestion.

Shreya Verma, 24, who is a resident of Dwarka, Delhi and works at a public relations agency located on MG Road, said, “I somehow reached near Ambience mall around 8.30am in a cab, but the traffic police asked the driver to take a U-turn and return to Delhi. Many of my colleagues who came from Faridabad reached office, but the management asked them to leave early.”

COPS TIGHTEN BORDER VIGIL

The Delhi Police carried out intense checking at Sirhaul toll plaza, Kapashera and Aya Nagar on MG Road, the three main borders between Delhi and Haryana, to ensure that vehicles ferrying those protesting the Citizenshi­p (Amendment) Act (CAA) from Haryana and Rajasthan did not enter the national capital on Thursday.

Police officials at the border said that they had with them a list of vehicles, with registrati­on numbers of Haryana and Punjab, that could be used for transporti­ng the protesters.

CPM ORGANISES PROTEST IN ROHTAK

The CPI(M) on Thursday held protest against the CAA in Rohtak. The protesters raised antigovern­ment slogans, sayingdict­atorship will not be allowed in a democratic country. “We will protest till CAA and NRC are withdrawn,” party leader Shamsher Singh Malik said.
