Five teens arrested for planning to cross LOC

Once the main conspirato­r did not turn up, the boys decided to cross the LOC without any help, after one of them, a class X student, told hem he knew the area well and had also seen the area in the movie Uri.

SRINAGAR:A group of five teenagers including from south Kashmir were arrested from a hotel in north Kashmir’s Uri town while they were planning to cross the Line of Control (loc).

The group hailed from Pulwama district and were planning to cross the LOC with the help of an atlas map, dry fruits and knowledge garnered after watching hindi blockbuste­r Uri.

Before these boys could go near the LOC, police arrested them from a hotel in Uri town and after investigat­ion and counsellin­g handed them to their parents. This is not the first time when boys have attempted to cross the LOC for arms training. Earlier also, many students were detained close to the LOC.

Abdul Qayoom, SP, Baramulla, told reporters the youth hailed from south Kashmir’s Pulwama district and were in the age group of 14 to 19 years. “These boys were promised by one person that he would be sent for arms training to the POK. After the person did not turn up, these boys decided to move on their own towards the LOC seeking help from an Atlas map.’’

While the youths were in Uri town on December 18, police received a tip-off about them and they all were arrested. During investigat­ion they revealed that they were planning to cross the LOC from Uri for the training, police said.
