SHEIKH ABDUL RASHID IS CURRENTLY IN JUDICIAL CUSTODY AT TIHAR JAIL AFTER HE WAS ARRESTED BY THE NIA ON AUGUST 9

SRINAGAR: The National Investigating Agency on Monday raided the ancestral house of deputy superintendent of police Davinder Singh, who was arrested along with three militants last month.

The raids have been going on across Kashmir following the sustained grilling of Hizb militant Syed Naveed Shah alias Babu who was arrested with Davinder Singh .

NIA officials raided Davinder’s house in Tral area and stayed there for over an hour. Another NIA team raided the house of a government employee at Jaggerpora village in Kupwara and also conducted a search at another house in the same district. The NIA and J&K police had already conducted raids at a house in Srinagar’s

Indra Nagar. The house belongs to Singh’s relatives.

It is also learnt that NIA is likely to question former MLA Engineer Rashid who is already under detention at Tihar jail. Rasheed was also questioned in the past by the NIA in another case and later formally arrested. The name of the former Independent legislator from north Kashmir figured during the interrogation of Syed Naveed, said officials.

NIA officials said the agency would soon approach court for seeking a production warrant for summoning Rashid and question him about his association with Naveed. Davinder was allegedly ferrying Naveed along with two others out of the Kashmir valley.

As per an agency report last week, Naveed had claimed during interrogation that he had been in constant touch with the legislator for establishing a firm base for the terror group in North Kashmir and was looking for possible hideouts in that area, the officials alleged.
