CHANDIGARH:THE Punjab government will not allow screening of films in Punjab that seek to promote gang culture and violence, chief minister Amarinder Singh said this on Tuesday.

Speaking during zero hour on the third day of the ongoing Vidhan Sabha session, the CM said his government would approach the Censor Board for action.

He said this while responding to Khanna MLA Gurkirat Singh Kotli’s question expressing concern over more movies, including the recently banned ‘Shooter’, being in the pipeline for release.

“The state government will write to the Censor Board also since the matter comes under its purview,” Amarinder added.

Earlier this month, the state government had ordered a ban on the movie ₹Shooter’, based on the life of notorious gangster Sukha Kahlwan.

Responding to another question

raised by MLA Parminder Singh Pinky about the alleged involvement of a Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Iqbal Singh Mallah in anti-national activities, the CM assured a thor

ough probe into the matter.

Pinky alleged that Mallah had links with a Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) member, Happy PHD, who was killed in Pakistan recently.

DISCUSSION ON MSP SOUGHT

During the zero hour, Aam Admi Party (AAP) MLA Kultar Singh Sandhwan demanded two-day special session to discuss the Centre’s reported move to end the regime of minimum support price (MSP). He told the House that the central government has formed a committee to give report on a proposal to wind up the system but there was no representation from Punjab. Sandhwan said agriculture experts should be called to the House to explain the real scenario.

Akali MLA NK Sharma asked the government to act against illegal mining going on unabated near the Chhattbir zoo in Mohali.

He said those involved in mining were patronised by a state cabinet minister.
