HISAR: A 19-year-old youth was hacked to death on Tuesday evening in Sirsa’s Chautala village that falls under the jurisdiction of Dabwali police.

The victim is Pawan Kumar, a cameraman who used to work at his brother’s photo studio in village’s main market.

Police have charged at least five men with the murder of Pawan on the complaint of his brother Sandeep Kumar, who is also an eyewitness in the case.

Sandeep, in his complaint to the police, stated that Pawan wanted to marry the daughter of one of the accused. “However, the father objected to their relationship,” he added.

The complainant told the investigating officials that on the day of Holi, Pawan and his friend Inderaj Singh were returning home when the accused — two of whom have been identified — attacked his brother with knives and sticks in the main market around 5pm and fled from the crime scene.

Sandeep, who was present in the market, rushed his brother to the primary health centre in Chautala village, from where doctors referred him to the Dabwali civil hospital.

He was declared brought dead by doctors at the civil hospital, he added.

Sadar police station in-charge Rajender Mor said, “After recording statement of the victim’s brother, we have registered a first information report (FIR) under sections 302 (murder), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon) and 149 (unlawful assembly) of the

Indian Penal Code (IPC) against two identified and three unidentified persons. The complainant is suspecting that one of the accused killed Pawan because he was having an affair with his daughter. Teams have been formed to nab the accused.”
