HARYANA ORDERS GIRDAWARI TO ASSESS CROP DAMAGE

KARNAL : Haryana agricultur­e minister JP Dalal on Friday said the state government has ordered a special girdawari to compensate farmers whose crops were damaged by the recent hailstorm and rain.

He said chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar ordered the special girdawari for assessment of crop loss and the affected farmers will be given compensati­on as per the state government’s policy.

The minister was speaking to mediaperso­ns after the inaugurati­on of threeday 37th state-level livestock exhibition at NDRI Karnal.

CHANDIGARH:SHIROMANI Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Friday asked chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh to order an immediate Girdawari (revenue assessment) to assess damage caused to rabi crops, due to heavy rain and hailstorm over the past few days.

“As per reports, there is widespread damage to wheat as well as mustard and vegetable crops in Nawanshahr, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Rupnagar, Sangrur, Mansa and Ferozepur districts due to heavy rain and hailstorm. Moderate damage to crops was also reported from other districts,” Sukhbir said.
