2 more cases in Hry, tally climbs to 16

CHANDIGARH: With two more positive cases from Gurugram, number of Covid-19 patients swelled to 16 in Haryana on Tuesday.

According to official communicat­ion, Gurugram, which alone had eight patients till Monday, now has 10 positive cases of the coronaviru­s.it was followed by Panipat where two positive cases had been reported so far, while one case each has been reported from Faridabad, Panchkula, Sonepat and Palwal, since the past one week.

According to official informatio­n, the cumulative number of persons put on surveillan­ce till date is 8,675, of whom 617 persons had completed a surveillan­ce period of 28 days and with this the number of persons still currently under surveillan­ce is 8,058.

The total number of persons who are currently hospitalis­ed in different hospitals, is 92, the official communicat­ion said. So far, 405 samples have been sent to the national institute of virology, Pune, of which 326 have been found to be negative, 16, positive, while 65 reports are still awaited.

STATE, DIST BORDERS SEALED HISAR

Police at Sirsa, Hisar, Bhiwani, Rohtak, Sonepat and Fatehabad have sealed all state and district borders. They are only allowing people in emergency services to commute.

Hisar superinten­dent of police (SP) Ganga Ram Punia said, “It’s good that people are following the directions of the Haryana government and supporting the lockdown to control spread of coronaviru­s. Only shops providing essentials are being allowed to remain open.”

He added that all state and district borders have been sealed: “If anyone is found wandering the streets without a vaild reason, police will deal with them strictly,” he said.

He advised police to stay safe and wear masks while interactin­g with people as a precaution­ary measure. Sirsa shares its boundary with Punjab and Rajasthan, while Hisar shares a border with Rajasthan.

VEHICLES CHALLANED

Hansi police have also booked around four persons for disobeying government orders and being involved in a fight with the police personal.

Police also challaned those vehicles who were on the road without a valid reason.

Hansi superinten­dent of police (SP) Lokender Singh said, “Police are actively working to ensure the safety of the people, but people are not following orders. We have registered an FIR against those who were on the streets without any reason and traffic police have also challaned those who were on the streets. I request everyone to stay put in homes during the lockdown and to stay safe.”

Meanwhile, in Hisar, Sirsa and Fatehabad, people adherer to the orders. Very few people could be seen outside of their houses. Congress leader from Sirsa, Hoshiyari Lal Sharma said that the people of this district are following the orders to the letter.
