DAY 1 OF HRY LOCKDOWN: 90 VIOLATORS ARRESTED
CHANDIGARH: The Haryana police on Tuesday registered over 60 first information reports (FIRS) and arrested over 90 people for allegedly violating the statewide lockdown orders.
According to additional director general of police (ADGP-LAW and order) Navdeep Singh Virk as Tuesday was the first day of state wide lockdown, people were educated as well as warned wherever minor noncompliance was noted.
As per last reports collected from the field units, apart from registering 60 FIRS and arresting 90 persons, huge number of challans were also issued and vehicles of violators impounded.
“However, people were being facilitated to shop for the very basic necessities after following strict social distancing norms,” the ADGP said.
In addition, he said, people facing difficulties in reaching the hospitals for treatment were also got transported by the police force to various hospitals in the state as well as AIIMS Delhi.
Virk said on the request of ministry of external affairs, instructions were issued to all districts to facilitate the evacuation of foreign nationals.
In this regard, several nationals of Brazil, Israel, Germany and Bhutan were assisted by Haryana Police to be evacuated.
Virk said DGP Manoj Yadava was himself keeping a close eye on the entire situation across the state.
He is in constant touch with the all CPS and District SPS and gave them directives to ensure strict compliance of the government orders about lockdown.
While DSP rank officers have been deputed at 10 important entry points on National Highways in the State from 8am to 10pm everyday till further orders to sort out issues if they so arise regarding lockdown, PCRS and other vehicles of the police are disseminating relevant messages educating the public about lockdown.
In an effort to augment district police, he said that additional home guard volunteers have been provided to districts.
