Villages in Haryana ban entry of outsiders, relatives

ROHTAK/HISAR: With the number of coronaviru­s cases rising in the state, many village panchayats in Sonepat, Bhiwani and Hisar districts have banned entry of outsiders and relatives.

Sarpanch of Bhiwani’s Hassan village Pratap Singh said the entry of outsiders, including residents’ relatives, had been barred as a preventive measure against the spread of Covid-19.

“We have sealed the boundaries of village and only people going to fields are being allowed to pass through it. Strict action will be taken against violators,” he said, adding that grocery shops were open.

Villagers have been advised against allowing people from entering their homes, said Jai Singh of Sonepat’s Mundlana village.

“We have always welcomed people to our village but we must take precaution­s in this critical time. We have sealed the village borders till April 14. The elderly have been warned against holding gathering and playing cards has been banned in the village for the time being,” he said.

Sarpanch of Bhiwani’s Garwa village Sonia Rahar said people returning to the village have been asked to get themselves checked before entering the village.

In Hisar’s Pabra village, youth clubs have taken the responsibi­lity of ensuring that strange people do not enter the village. They have sealed the village by keeping tyres, and bricks on all entries.

Rajender Kumar of Jagriti Manch Pabra village said, “People

are taking the virus lightly. When the Prime Minister asked all people to stay at home many people went to the town for the express purpose to see whether the instructio­ns were being followed or not.”“thus, we have decided to seal all entry and exit points of the village,” he added.

21-YEAR-OLD STAFF NURSE TESTS POSITIVE

KARNAL : A 21-year-old Panipatbas­ed staff nurse tested positive for novel coronaviru­s disease .

The woman, who was posted at a private hospital in Gurugram, had returned home on March 19. She reportedly quarantine­d herself as soon as she developed symptoms on March 23. Her samples were sent to Government Medical College, Khanpur Kalan. She contracted the infection from one of her patients in Gurugram.

Panipat’s deputy chief medical officer Dr Shashi Garg said, “The woman has been admitted to the isolation ward of a civil hospital in Panipat. The girls’ family has also been quarantine­d.”

A 21-year-old with a travel history to the UK was the first Covid-19 patient in the district, and a 30-year-old maid from Panipat also tested positive and is admitted at PGIMS Rohtak.
